Handpicked Gyokuro, as the name suggest, it's manually handpicked by tea expert. Only the highest quality tea leaves are selected to produce this Gyokuro. Gyokuro is the highest grade of green tea in Japanese green teas. The growing method of Gyokuro is different from other green teas such as Sencha.
About 20 days before harvest, Gyokuro tea trees are shaded. This shade-grown process reduce the direct sunlight to the tea leaves, reducing the astringency and increase the umami sweetness. This process is similar to Matcha tea leaves. Therefore Matcha and Gyokuro has very good aroma, sweetness and low bitterness.
In addition to the shade-grown process, this Gyokuro is made from handpicked tea leaves, only the best quality tea leaves are selected for this products, and very limited quantity available.
